Chase Headley leads Major League Baseball with 62 RBI in the second half of the season and his 20 home runs are tied for the most in the game over that period.

Headley ranks fifth n the National League with a 6.5 WAR (Wins Above Replacement), behind Ryan Braun, Andrew McCutchen, David Wright and Buster Posey.

There is no clear-cut favorite for the NL MVP with early-season favorites Joey Votto and Matt Kemp spending time on the disabled list.

"Traditionally, you look at the big picture and statistically he matches up with what's going on in the league," Bud Black said. "He's up there with the big boys when you look at what he's done. ... I think more than anything is this year is putting Chase on the map and in conversations with players who are noted to be the best players in the league, year in and year out.

"I think with Chase, the challenge is to keep going. Not that he has to match what he's doing, but continue a high rate of production. The awards, the accolades will come once you past the test of time."
