The Red Sox are close to the end of a disappointing season and they have begun to line up their offseason priorities.

"The run scoring has been about where we thought it would be in spite of the injuries," Ben Cherington said. "We've scored enough runs. We've just given up too many. From that standpoint, we've got to look back and figure out why we were off on that. It's something we're definitely going to need to address."

Boston's pitching staff has a 5.12 ERA and they are 15 games below .500 for the first time since 1992.

They will build their rotation around Jon Lester and Clay Buchholz, who will cost around $17 million combined for the 2013 season.
