Nick Markakis is scheduled to undergo surgery on his thumb Tuesday in Sarasota.

Markakis broke his thumb when he was hit by a pitch thrown by CC Sabathia over the weekend.

He is done for the regular season, but the Orioles hope he'll be able to return if the teams make a deep postseason run.
