David Wright is enjoying another very good season.
Wright doesn't want to negotiate with the Mets during the season, but has expressed a desire to remain with the franchise over the long-term.
The Mets let Jose Reyes walk as a free agent last winter. He signed a six-year, $106 million with the Marlins.
"I'm extremely optimistic," Wright said of a long-term deal. "I've really enjoyed it here."
Jon Heyman is suggesting that New York could give Wright a eight-year, $160 million deal.
There is a lot of negativity surrounding the Mets, but Wright seems undeterred.
"I like to think I'm a loyal person," Wright said.
