Between the fourth and fifth innings of Boston's loss to Oakland on Saturday night, Dustin Pedroia and Alfredo Aceves got into a shouting match in the dugout.

The pair had to be separated by third base coach Jerry Royster.

The argument stemmed from Aceves catching Pedroia off guard with a pair of pickoff attempts at second base with Coco Crisp on. Neither player would discuss the incident after the game.

"That's none of your guys' business," Pedroia said. "That's between teammates."

Said Aceves, "It was (about) something that we have to communicate on between us. But that's us. That stays with us. What happens in the game is in the game."

Bobby Valentine didn't shed much light on the spat either.

"It was just Alfredo being Alfredo and Dustin being a baseball player," Valentine said.
