Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes are both set to become free agents after the 2013 season.

The Yankees have to make decisions regarding the futures of both pitchers, and that involves figuring out where they belong.

"They have been around long enough," general manager Brian Cashman. "They are not guys I am dreaming on anymore."

The Yankees seem to have settled on the pair being very talented, but inconsistent pitchers.

"They are here for a reason, -- they are important pieces for us," Cashman said. "I have made trades and done things and I haven't moved them. That should say something."
