The Rays will start right-hander James Shields on Opening Day next month. Shields was named to his first All-Star team in 2011, while winning 16 games and the team's MVP award. "It's definitely gratifying," Shields said of starting on April 6 against the Yankees. "I put a lot of hard work in last year. To be recognized, to get the opening day nod this year is pretty special." Shields started the team's first game in 2008, 2009 and 2010, but last season David Price earned the honor.
