The Padres have locked up center fielder Cameron Maybin to a contract extension through the 2017 season.
Maybin's extension is a five-year deal worth $25 million.
The contract buys out Maybin's three arbitration years and one year of free agency, according to a baseball source.
Maybin was obtained by former Padres general manager Jed Hoyer from the Marlins in November of 2010 for relief pitchers Ryan Webb and Edward Mujica.
