Miguel Montero wants to remain with the Diamondbacks over the long term, but talks regarding a contract extension have broken off. "We weren't able to find any common ground," Kevin Towers said. "My desire, as well as Miggy's desire, with an important season coming up and our first game here on Saturday, is to kind of put it behind us until the end of the season. We'll address it at that point in time." Neither side would give any indication as to how the negotiations played out. They both had wanted an early resolution to give Montero time to clear his mind and prepare for the season. "At this point, I want to be focused on the game and on my pitchers," the catcher said. "The bottom line is, I want to win. I know they've been trying hard. There's no hard feelings. I just want to go out and play."
