Russell Martin and the Yankees avoided salary arbitration when they agreed to a $7.5M, one-year contract. The deal, announced Tuesday, was $100,000 under the midpoint between the $8.2M he had asked for in arbitration and the $7M the Yankees had offered when proposed salaries were exchanged last week.
