The Marlins met with Jose Reyes on Wednesday, but the free-agent shortstop did not come away with a contract offer. The club has yet to make a formal offer to Reyes, according to a source close to the Florida front office. The Marlins are aggressively pursuing Reyes to play alongside fellow Dominican Hanley Ramirez, who presumably would move to third. A New York Daily News report suggested the Marlins could make Reyes a three-year deal with a much higher average annual value than he would get in a longer term contract.
