The Red Sox and Cubs have requested and been granted permission to talk to Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. about their vacant managerial positions.
In addition to Alomar Jr. and Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux, Boston and Chicago share interest in other candidates.
Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin has drawn interest from both clubs and the Cubs have spoken to Terry Francona, who parted ways with the Red Sox earlier this offseason.
