Victor Martinez hopes to play on Tuesday when the Tigers face the Indians.
Martinez is dealing with a "sprained left knee," but he wasn't seen limping.
He is hitting .342 in his last 63 games, not to mention .556 with runners in scoring position since July 17.
Martinez winced with pain after suffering the injury on Saturday.
"I got a good feeling about it when I saw him walking to the bus this morning," said manager Jim Leyland on Sunday. "It was pretty much normal.
"The biggest test was the first step to get on the bus, and that was pretty normal, too. I expected more stiffness than I saw as he came out of the hotel.
"Not that it's 100 percent," Leyland said, "but it is certain that it appears to be better."
