Ubaldo Jimenez will make his debut with the Indians on Friday against the Rangers.
Jimenez offered to start Cleveland's series finale against Boston on Thursday, but manager Manny Acta wanted to keep his rotation as scheduled.
He will join the club in Boston on Wednesday. Friday's start, coming on five days' rest, will be the 27-year-old's first against the Rangers, one of just six teams he has yet to face.
