Yankees general manager Brian Cashman believes the best player in this weekend's Subway Series plays in his infield.
After Alex Rodriguez proclaimed that Mets shortstop Jose Reyes was the best player on the field, Cashman countered by saying New York second baseman Robinson Cano deserves the honor.
"I don't know if he's the best player. He's the most electric and is having the best year, but you've got to look at consistency," Cashman said of Reyes.
"Robinson Cano is the best player on the field."
Asked whom he would take with the first three picks in an open draft of Mets and Yanks position players, Cashman said, "Robinson Cano first. Jose Reyes. Alex Rodriguez."
