The Giants presented infielder Juan Uribe with his World Series ring on the field Monday.
The team did so despite the fact that Uribe now plays for the rival Dodgers.
The Giants originally planned to give Uribe his 77-diamond ring in private, but after lobbying from several veteran players, manager Bruce Bochy discussed the matter with general manager Brian Sabean and managing partner Bill Neukom.
"It's something we want to do for Juan," Bochy said. "Hopefully it'll send a message that yes, we're competitive in baseball, but it's baseball. We've got to keep our senses here."
