Mitch Moreland has maintained his position as the starting first baseman for the Rangers. He entered the spring ahead of Chris Davis on the depth chart and has done nothing to relinquish the role. "You call that guy a baseball player," manager Ron Washington said. "He's motivated. He's focused on what he has to do to get better. That's where his head is. His head is about getting to be a better baseball player." Moreland made his big-league debut in late July and never went back to Triple A, hitting .255 with nine homers in 145 at-bats.
