Yankees manager Joe Girardi has said that Derek Jeter will continue hitting leadoff, but some within the organization may be pushing for a change.
Internally, the team would like to see Brett Gardner hitting first, with Jeter shifting back to the familiar No. 2 slot.
"The lineup is best with Gardner leading off," one source said. "Don't be surprised if it winds up that way."
Jeter has never mentioned a preference hitting either way.
