FOX Sports surveyed baseball officials this week and it appears as though Derek Jeter isn't going to get an offer higher than the three-year, $45 million deal the Yankees extended. "What he needs to happen, and it won't, is for Boston to get in it to amp up the price," an executive said. "But that's not going to happen because he is a [Yankees] icon. And if they did that, Theo [Epstein, Red Sox GM] and Cashman would go to blows. "There is nobody to drive the price up." A dozen years ago the Red Sox successfully drove up the price for outfielder Bernie Williams, who eventually re-sign with New York. Jeter reportedly wants a six-year, $150 million deal.
