The Nationals have had a three-year offer on the table for Adam Dunn for three months, according to a source.
Dunn and his agent, Greg Genske, haven't yet accepted.
The slugger wants a four-year deal, but Washington isn't willing to budge from their current offer.
Dunn became eligible to negotiate with any team as a free agent on Saturday at midnight.
