White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper was denied permission by Chicago to talk to the Yankees about the same position. The Yankees are looking to replace Dave Eiland and Cooper is a native of the New York area. Former Yankee Gil Patterson becomes the front-runner, according to the New York Daily News. Patterson has served as the minor league pitching coordinator for the A's since 2007.
