Coco Crisp agreed to a three-year contract extension on Wednesday with a club option for the 2010 season.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but Crisp is making $2.75 million this season.
"We think investing in Coco Crisp is a wise move," general manager Theo Epstein said. "On behalf of the organization, this provides us a little bit of cost certainty going forward and the flexibility to have five years, if we want him, and not have to deal with free agency."
