Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira says that left-hander CC Sabathia is the best signing in franchise history. New York signed both Teixeira and Sabathia before the 2009 season. The pair went on to help lead the Yankees to their 27th World Series title. "CC Sabathia has arguably been the best free agent signing in Yankees history," Teixeira said before Game 1 of the ALCS against the Rangers on Friday night. Sabathia is 40-15 with a 3.27 ERA in two seasons with New York. "He's made a huge impact in the short time he's been here," manager Joe Girardi said. "He's won 40 regular season games, a number of playoff games already. We probably don't get to the postseason without CC a couple of times. His impact has been huge for us. He takes the ball every fifth day, sometimes he took it on the fourth day. You count on him giving you distance, resting your bullpen. He's been a big factor here."
