The Rangers flirted with the sixth no-hitter in the major leagues this season, with starter Rich Harden getting things started on Monday night.
Twins catcher Joe Mauer became the fifth player to spoil a no-hit bid in the ninth inning with a single off Texas reliever Neftali Feliz.
The Rangers defeated the Twins 4-0 thanks to a combined shutout between Harden and three relievers.
"When I looked at who was hitting in the ninth I worried about Mauer because he's a good hitter and with Feliz's fastball you feel like if he leaves a ball in the hitting zone that he's going to have a shot at it," Texas president Nolan Ryan said.
