With Adrian Beltre now in Boston, the Angels are likely to give Brandon Wood the starting gig at third base. The Angels lost former third baseman, Chone Figgins, to Seattle this Winter and were said to be interested in Beltre if his asking price had dropped. Beltre signed a one-year, $10 million deal with Boston. Wood has been one of the Angels best prospects for years. In 2005, he led the minor leagues with 43 home runs. If his plate discipline improves, he could be an unlikely power source for the Halos in the coming years.
