The Royals announced on Monday that the club has signed left-handed pitcher John Parrish to a minor league contract for the 2010 season. Parrish will be invited to Major League Spring Training in Surprise, Ariz.
Parrish, 32, is 13-13 with a 4.54 ERA in 174 career Major League appearances, including 16 starts, over seven seasons with the Orioles (2000-01, 2003-05, 2007), Mariners (2007) and Blue Jays (2008). The southpaw did not pitch in 2009 due to injury after compiling a 1-1 mark and a 4.04 ERA in 13 games (6 starts) for Toronto in 2008. The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder also was 10-1 with a 2.97 ERA in 17 appearances for Syracuse (AAA) that season.
