The Marlins have offered free-agent left-hander Aroldis Chapman a five-year contract, according to a report in the Miami Herald.
Numerous reports have had more than 20 teams inquiring about Chapman. The Red Sox reportedly have offered $15.5 million for the 21-year-old.
Even though he'll begin the season in the minor leagues, the belief among league officials is he is very close to being big league ready.
