Free-agent center fielder Mike Cameron can still play defense and wants to sign on with a contender this winter. "I feel like I can still play one of the better center fields in the game," Cameron told ESPN's Buster Olney. "I feel like I can play with the best of them. At the same time, you have to understand if you want to be in the right spot, [moving to corner outfield] might be an option you want to take. ... I'm just trying to get in the right spot to get in the playoffs." He hit .250 with 24 homers, 75 walks and a .795 OPS for the Brewers in 2009. He wouldn't have rejected a return, but Milwaukee quickly dealt for Minnesota center fielder Carlos Gomez after the season. "He covers a lot of ground out there," a scout said. "He can still play the position."
