The Indians have named Sandy Alomar Jr. their first base coach. The former All-Star catcher was hired by manager Manny Acta. He had spent two seasons as the catching instructor for the Mets. Alomar played 20 seasons in the Major Leagues, including 11 in Cleveland, before retiring in 2007.
