Dodgers manager Joe Torre is noncommittal about who will start at second base down the stretch. Ronnie Belliard, who Los Angeles acquired recently, has been starting over Orlando Hudson lately. Belliard played in place of Hudson for the second straight game on Sunday. Torre pointed out that Hudson played in a majority of the team's games earlier in the season. In addition, Belliard has been hitting very well since he arrived on Aug. 30. "I'm taking advantage right now with Ronnie swinging the bat the way he is to use him, and then decide what choices we're going to have going forward," Torre told the Los Angeles Times. Asked whether Hudson remained the starting second baseman, Torre said Sunday "he's not starting today" and declined to comment about future games.
