Josh Hamilton could soon return to the third spot in the batting order for the Rangers.
He went 4-for-4 on Thursday to finish the team's recent road trip with a .486 average. Hamilton has been moved from seventh to fifth already this season.
"I actually like batting fifth because there are more runners on base," Hamilton said, according to the Star-Telegram. "I like hitting third, too, because I like batting in the first inning. It's no big deal. I just want us to get back to where the lineup is supposed to be. It hasn't affected me at all."
Texas manager Ron Washington believes that his slugger will be back in the third spot sooner rather than later.
"I want him back in the No. 3 spot, but right now I'm going to keep in the No. 5 spot to make sure he's progressing along," he said. "If he keeps swinging the bat the way he's been swinging, one day he's going to show up at the yard and he's going to be back in the 3 hole."
