Andre Ethier agreed to a $3.1 million, one-year deal with the Dodgers on Tuesday, which allowed the parties to avoid an arbitration hearing.
Ethier hit .305 with 20 homers and 77 RBIs last year.
He had asked for $3.75 million, and the team had offered $2.65 million.
"We were all ready to go, sitting there staring at each other waiting for someone to flinch, and I think everyone started flinching then," Ethier said. "Both sides knew resolve was the best. There was a lot to be lost on either side of the results.
