The Rockies have reached an agreement with third baseman Garrett Atkins on a one-year deal worth $7 million. The agreement allowed the two parties to avoid arbitration. "Garrett's really excited that he doesn't have to travel to Phoenix for a hearing because he's wrapping up his training and now he gets to finish that up instead of going into a room for four hours and listening to the team grill him," agent Jeff Blank said. "I don't think any player wants to go to arbitration and sit in a hearing room and listen to the team highlight his weaknesses."
