Former Mets' and Rangers' manager Bobby Valentine could soon make a return to the Major Leagues after he was not offered a contract extension past the 2009 season by Japan's Chiba Lotte Marines.
Valentine told the Associated Press on Sunday that the team has decided not to make an offer.
"They just wanted to go in a different direction," said Valentine. "They wanted to change things, and I certainly understand that."
