Blue Jays' GM J.P. Ricciardi hinted recently about interest in mid-level free agents like Orlando Hudson and Jason Giambi. "Orlando Hudson is out there. Jason Giambi is out there. We'll have to see who's out there still when the music stops and see who we might be able to get," Ricciardi said in an interview with the Boston Globe. Ricciardi was reportedly told to cut team payroll by $20 million for 2009 to $85 million, and they only lost $12 million in A.J. Burnett's departure.
