Brian Cashman entered this off-season with what seems to be an unlimited war chest with which to re-build the Yankees' pitching staff. Just says after landing left-hander C.C. Sabathia on a free-agent deal worth $161 million, the Yankees reached agreement with A.J. Burnett on a five-year, $82.5 million contract. Burnett is 31 years of age. Cashman flew to Houston Thursday to talk with Andy Pettitte after the Yankees made him a one-year offer at $10 million. If Pettite accepts, the Yankees will have a deep and potentially dominant starting rotation of Sabathia, Chien-Ming Wang, Burnett, Chamberlain and Pettitte.
