Brandon Lyon appears to be losing his grip on the job of closer with the Diamondbacks, according to The Mercury News. Lyon has been shaky as of late and has seen Jon Rauch used as the closer on occasion when he has been struggling. "It's just as simple as not making pitches right now," Lyon said. "Everything that can go wrong is going wrong. I can't explain it. I just have to keep grinding it out and keep going back out there and get one out at a time." Lyon, however, doesn't feel as though a move out of the closer's role will help him. "I don't feel that way," he said. "I feel like I'm ready to go out there and get outs. It's just a matter of doing it. It seems like in the past few years and this year I've been able to pitch out of having people on base. It's just not happening. I'm not getting that one out at that time. I'm giving up a hit, and it's snowballing into other things."
