South Korea defeated Cuba 3-2 on Saturday morning to take home the gold medal from Beijing, according to The Associated Press.
Cuba and Japan were both considered the favorites heading in the Olympic Games, but the United States downed Japan to take home the bronze, and Cuba had to settle for silver.
"Tonight we faced a good pitcher. He was really tough on the batters," said Cuba Manager Antonio Pacheco. "And the last situation in the ninth inning, we were not able to execute. But that's baseball."
