Cubs' Manager Lou Pinella gave an endorsement to former major league player Joey Cora on Wednesday, according to The Chicago Sun-Times.
"Joey's a good baseball man, a really good baseball man," said Pinella. "You never know till the person does it, but he certainly has the qualifications."
Cora has interviewed for a number of managerial vacancies in recent years.
"He knows baseball; he would command respect, and at the same time he's played in Seattle on good teams," Piniella added. "So, yeah, he would -- but, look, they have a manager there now, in [ex-Cubs' skipper Jim] Riggleman. And hopefully, Jim does a nice job, and he's considered. I don't want to get into those things."
