Shortstop Tim Beckham expects to be one of the first two players taken in Major League Baseball's June 5 draft, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
His father claims that indications are his son will not last until the third pick, meaning he will be selected first by the Rays or second by the Pirates.
"I've built quite a conversational relationship with the Pirates, and we feel the Pirates would not be a bad place for him," Jimmy Beckham said. "Either way, though, he'll be happy. We feel good about Tampa and Pittsburgh."
