John Smoltz has more postseason victories than any other pitcher in baseball history. He won't be starting Game 1 against the Astros' Andy Pettitte, whose 13 wins are second best, however. Braves manager Bobby Cox told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he likely will go with Tim Hudson in Game 1 instead of Smoltz. Smoltz has a sore shoulder and the Game 1 starter would need to pitch on short rest in Game 4 on Sunday if that game needs to be played. The newspaper reported that Cox informed Smoltz of his decision when the team's flight returned from South Florida after a weekend series against the Marlins. "I just found out after we landed," Smoltz told the Journal-Constitution. "It doesn't matter to me. I think if there's any concern [about the shoulder], then it gives them a little more flexibility. I thought the whole time I was pitching Game 1, but that's OK."
