MLK III Wants To Buy Share Of Mets

The son of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. is interested in buying a share of the Mets. Martin Luther King III is part of a group wishing to purchase a share of the club from principal owner Fred Wilpon. The group also includes television executive Larry Meli, ex-Met Ed Kranepool and Donn Clendenon Jr., the son of another ex-Met, the New York Post reported on Sunday. Fred Wilpon and son Jeff, the Mets COO, announced Friday their intention to potentially sell 20-25 percent of the team to satisfy any judgment or settlement in a lawsuit brought by the trustee looking to recover money for victims of convicted swindler Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme.

Orioles Prospect Patton Arrested For DWI

Orioles left-hander Troy Patton was arrested last weekend on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The 25-year-old was pulled over after his car jumped a curb on a city street about 8:15 p.m. Sunday in Houston. Patton appeared in one game for the Orioles last season.

Milton Bradley Arrested In L.A.

Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley has been arrested for allegedly making threats against a woman. Bradley was taken into custody Tuesday morning and was taken to the Van Nuys, Calif., jail, where he was booked for suspicion of making criminal threats. The booking records would not provide details about the identity of the woman or details of the threats allegedly made against the woman. The Mariners released a statement late Tuesday night saying they are aware of Bradley's arrest. "While we do not yet have full details on what occurred, we are aware of the situation and take it very seriously," general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "We are in the process of determining the full circumstances of what occurred today. Until we have more information, we will not be able to comment further."

Ozzie Canseco Charged With DUI

Ozzie Canseco, the twin brother of former Athletics slugger Jose Canseco, has been arrested on DUI charges in Florida. Authorities in Tampa say the 46-year-old was booked early Saturday morning. He is being held on $500 bond. Ozzie Canseco also was arrested in 2003 after a deputy found illegal anabolic steroids in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

Jamie McCourt Allowed To Seek Half Of Dodgers

A judge in the dispute between Frank McCourt and his former wife, Jamie, over ownership of the Dodgers has finalized his decision that their marital property agreement is invalid. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gordon had given both sides time to lodge objections to his Dec. 7 ruling. Gordon's ruling allows Jamie McCourt to seek half of the Los Angeles Dodgers after she was ousted by her ex-husband as the team's CEO in October 2009.

Police Searching For Orioles Pitcher Alfredo Simon

Orioles reliever Alfredo Simon is the main suspect in a fatal shooting New Year's Eve in the Dominican Republic, police said Sunday. The pitcher is suspected of killing 25-year-old Michel Castillo Almonte and wounding his 17-year-old brother during a celebration in the northeast coastal town of Luperon. Simon is from the Dominican Republic and police said he fled after the violence.
