  • The Chicago Cubs have signed LHP Glendon Rusch to a two-year contract, guaranteeing him $6 million, and as much as $1 million in performance bonuses based on starts.
  • The Chicago White Sox have exercised the 2006 club option on RHP Cliff Politte and declined the 2006 club option on DH Carl Everett, making him a free agent. DH Frank Thomas has exercised his 2006 player option.
  • The Houston Astros have extended manager Phil Garner's contract for one-year, keeping him in Houston through 2007.
  • The Kansas City Royals INF Joe McEwing has filed for free agency.
  • The New York Mets have exercised a 2006 club option for RHP Steve Trachsel and declined contract options for RHP Branden Looper and 1B Doug Mientkiewicz.
  • The Los Angeles Angels declined the 2006 club option on pitcher Jason Christiansen.

  • The San Francisco Giants have re-signed LHP Jeff Fassero to a one-year contract.
  • The Texas Rangers have signed C Nick Trzesniak, with an invitation to Spring Training.
  • The Pittsburgh Pirates extended the contracts of broadcasters John Wehner and Steve Blass through the 2006 season.

  • The Minnesota Twins have purchased the contract of RHP Willie Eyre from Triple-A Rochester.
  • Texas Rangers LHP Justin Thompson has elected free agency instead of going to Triple-A Oklahoma.
  • The Cleveland Indians claimed pitcher Sean Douglass off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.
