The Los Angeles Dodgers made another transaction Wednesday when the club signed veteran third baseman Bill Mueller to a two-year contract worth $9.5 million. Mueller, a switch-hitting third baseman, batted .295 with 10 homers and 62 RBIs in 150 games with the Boston Red Sox last season. He also hit .338 with runners in scoring position during the 2005 campaign. The 34-year-old captured the American League Batting Title in 2003 with a .326 average in 146 games. Breaking Down The Deal Signing Bill Mueller is a solid move by the Dodgers. The veteran gives Los Angeles a great glove and impact at the hot corner. Mueller is able to slap the ball for base hits and provides a potential home run threat at third base. Mueller should compliment a Dodger lineup that includes Jeff Kent, J.D. Drew and Rafael Furcal. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti continues to reshape the face of the franchise for the better. I would expect Mueller to hit around .285 along with 10-15 home runs in 2006.
