The Atlanta Braves traded outfielder Matt Kemp to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Adrian Gonzalez, Brandon McCarthy, Scott Kazmir and Charlie Culberson, the teams announced Saturday.

The Braves, who also received cash considerations in the deal, immediately designated Gonzalez for assignment after the veteran waived his no-trade clause since Atlanta already is set at first base with Freddie Freeman.

"This allows him the opportunity to go and find some playing time," new Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said of Gonzalez.

Chris Archer is drawing a lot of interest on the trade market and the Tampa Bay Rays have heard from the Atlanta Braves, Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins.

Archer would bring back a huge haul, but it remains to be seen if the Rays would seriously consider trading him.

He has pitched to a 3.63 ERA/3.46 FIP combination with 9.72 K/9 against 2.94 BB/9 in 967 career innings and has made no fewer than 32 starts four years in a row.

The Texas Rangers have signed free-agent shortstop Yenci Pena, one of the players taken from the Atlanta Braves as punishment for circumventing international signing rules, according to multiple reports.

The Atlanta Braves have traded Jim Johnson to the Los Angeles Angels.

The Braves are also sending the remainder of their international signing bonus ($1.21 million) to the Angels in exchange for left-hander Justin Kelly.

The agreement increases the Angels' possible bonus offer to Shohei Ohtani to $1,315,000.
