The Giants released Scott Williamson and optioned fellow righthander Randy Messenger to Class AAA Fresno on Wednesday, according to a Yahoo.com report. Williamson was a non-roster invitee to spring training camp but failed to distinguish himself in two games, surrendering three runs and three hits in just two innings.
