Former Yankee slugger Jim Leyritz expressed condolences Monday to the family of a Florida woman he allegedly killed in a drunken driving crash. Leyritz released a statement through his lawyer Jeffrey Ostrow marking the first time he's publicly acknowledged the Friday accident that claimed the life of Fredia Ann Veitch, 30, a mother of two. "Due to the tragic and unfortunate events of Dec. 28, 2007, Mr. Leyritz and his family wish to express their deepest sympathies and condolences to the Veitch family," Ostrow said. Ostrow declined further comment, except to say he was Leyritz's friend and lawyer.
