Boston's lineup card was fitted with its usual suspects three hours before Monday's opener against the Blue Jays in Toronto. About 20 minutes before the first pitch was tossed, though, Johnny Damon was scratched for the second time in three games. Damon was originally listed as the starting center fielder for the Red Sox on Monday. But after meeting with manager Terry Francona and head trainer Jim Rowe, the decision to pull Damon was made in favor of flying the outfielder back to Boston to undergo an MRI on his ailing left shoulder at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. "I talked to Johnny earlier this afternoon, kind of just in conversation," said Francona. "And he said, 'I don't feel great, but I'm going to play and I'm going to be fine.' "He went out early to throw, and it didn't go as well as we wanted it to."
