Ronny Cedeno's broken left hand will put him out for the rest of the season and could have a domino effect on the Cubs' infield plans next year. The Cubs never got an opportunity to see Cedeno play second base, where he may have to move if they re-sign Nomar Garciaparra or bring in free-agent shortstop Rafael Furcal. The Cubs have a $2.5 million option on second baseman Todd Walker and are considering bringing back Neifi Perez to play short and second. Cedeno didn't receive regular playing time but says he showed enough to gain a starting job in 2006. "I feel like I'm ready [to start]," Cedeno said. "I got a couple games up here and feel like I'm part of the team. I feel more comfortable. "I want to be sticking around and playing every day. Am I moving to second base? I don't know. If something happens next year and they sign some shortstop, I can play every position."
