Andrew Mongelluzzi, Paul Lo Duca's rep, told The Post Monday in regards to the Mets that "it's been real quiet."
Barring a late development Monday night with the Mets - which seemed almost unfathomable - Lo Duca will be officially on the market today, the Mets will lose their exclusivity rights with him and the free-agent catcher will be allowed to sign with other teams. In a telling remark, Mongelluzzi said Monday he doesn't believe the Mets are determined to sign Lo Duca at the moment, believing he's more of a fallback.
"I just don't see Paul being a priority with them right now," Mongelluzzi said. "I feel like he's more of a backup plan, more of an insurance plan with the Mets right now."
